Saints visit White House, accept Obama’s congrats

The New Orleans Saints have come marching in to the White House. President Barack Obama welcomed the Super Bowl champions on Monday in an East Room ceremony where he congratulated the players, owner and coaches.

WASHINGTON (AP) The New Orleans Saints marched in to the White House on Monday and got a salute from President Barack Obama for lifting up “the hopes and the dreams of a shattered city” with their Super Bowl win.

The Saints released veteran defensive end Bobby McCray on Monday, abruptly parting ways with a playoff starter who helped New Orleans capture its first Super Bowl title. McCray started all three of the defending champions’ playoff games last season, making six tackles and a memorable block that flattened Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner after an interception.

Saints OTA update: Team trip to Plaquemines Parish planned for Tuesday

The New Orleans Saints finished another session of organized team activities Monday and will take a day off tomorrow to travel to Plaquemines Parish to spend time with residents affected by the oil spill. Saints Coach Sean Payton said the visit will be a “team-building activity.”
